The flag carrier of Kenya, Kenya Airways, as well as it’s regional partner Jambojet, have adopted the IDT-SCS methodology of UPRT implementation. This training will give the airline group a common means of addressing training to mitigate LOC-I.
Kenya Airways operates the Boeing 787 and Boeing 737, while Jambojet flies the Q400 turboprop. The revised UPRT program, which will be facilitated through the collaboration with IDT-SCS, brings this training to the highest level by addressing several “latent” concepts commonly ignored or forgotten during many UPRT programs. While regulations define the minimum standard, they do not address the training needs specific to an airline, or which generally apply to the airline industry.
For these reasons, IDT has developed and deployed a far more comprehensive program, distributed to the pilots in multiple phases.
Quality leads, and standardisation over a longer period of time ensures a higher level of safety.
